What is Meekness?

Does January's Beatitude confuse you? Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. What exactly does this mean?? What is Meekness?? Below, you find a definition about this Beatitude from Fr. Creagan.

Meekness does not have anything to do with being weak, but rather being gentle of heart. In Matthews Gospel Jesus says Learn from me for I am meek and humble of Heart. He is showing us that we need 2 virtues.

First of all we need humility - a virtue which opens our heart to God. True humility does two things, first of all it recognizes our gifts and then we strive to use those gifts well. Then true humility recognizes our weaknesses and we realize our need for God....so humility opens our hearts to God

Meekness or gentleness is a virtue that opens our hearts to our fellow humans and makes us approachable. I'll copy some articles that can help explain this.
