School Theme 2011-2012
“We Keep Growing Taller.”
The great redwoods of California are one of the beautiful natural
wonders of North America. These giant evergreens can grow to a towering
300 feet tall and live for hundreds of years. For all their magnificence,
one would think the redwoods would require a deep root system to keep them
upright. Instead, they have roots that spread out along the surface of
the forest floor to capture all the moisture possible, intertwining with the
roots of other redwoods in the grove. The interlocking roots securely
support and sustain these giant sequoias when storms strike and fierce winds
blow. The trees' survival depends on the combined support of one
another. When we stand
together...support one another...encourage one another...we become strong
together, and like the giant
redwoods, we keep growing taller.

DIBS information-Tracking Your Hours
We hope everyone is finding the new DIBS Program as an easy way to find the events you want to volunteer for and for keeping track of those hours. If you have not checked your hours, please do so. We want to make sure everyone is getting credit for volunteering here at SHS. Checking your hours is very easy.
Login to your DIBS account
Click on "My DIBS: View all my current DIB items" (it's in a gray box, middle of the screen, right hand side).
Once you click on that, a new screen will pop up that will show you what you have signed up for and if it has been "completed".
You will be able to see how many volunteer hours you have completed and how many hours you have left to complete in order to hit your 20 volunteer hours.
If you have worked an event and it is not on there, or has yet to be marked "complete", please let us know. We want to make sure everyone gets the volunteer hours they have worked.
Athletics
For information on our athletic program, please go to Ms. Ekegren's web page and/or the sports calendar on this web site.

Accreditation Process-MN Non-Public School Association
Sacred Heart Catholic School strives to be a Christ-centered, Catholic community where
students receive a Catholic education and a challenging academic
curriculum. We are proud that we have been accredited since 1990. Last year, Sacred Heart went through the accreditation process that occurs every seven years. A MNSAA team of nine principals and teachers spent three days with us to validate our report and strategic plan. All components may be viewed under the accreditation tab. Currently, some of the primary elements of our strategic plan
include:
. rigorous curriculum review and updating
· integrating technology into the curriculum
· updating school facilities (included in parish plan)
· promoting a safe, school environment with a focus on
character development
· furnishing a high quality Catholic educational program at
an affordable tuition rate
Our final strategic plan will be submitted to MNSAA in December, 2011. We will keep parents informed of the progress of our plan.
