This Wednesday, May 7, our first grade classes will be in charge of the May Crowning Prayer Service. It begins in the church at 8:45. All of the 1st graders will have a part in this service. Mrs. Steele and myself will provide flowers to bring up to the altar to put in vases around the statue of Mary. If you want to bring in an extra flower for this, you certainly can. Our students are very excited and we hope to see you there. Thanks.
Have a wonderful Mother's Day!!

April Happenings
Welcome back after Spring Break. I hope everyone enjoyed family bonding time during the Easter holiday. Conferences are on Thursday, 4/3.
Thanks to all families coming in to meet with me. If you were not scheduled for a conference, your child should have brought home a spring
conference sheet. This will give you a quick run down of how your child is doing. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me.
Our first grade classes will be doing a prayer service this month, 4/23. We are also doing the May Crowning. We will be trying to involve every
student. You will get further information on this as it gets closer.
Other events: Talent show 4/17, Creativity fair 4/29, and Special Persons Day 4/30. Please return any Life Touch photos/money at this time.
Thank you! Enjoy Spring!

Welcome back from Christmas Break! Hope your New Year is off to a good start. We will be talking about how other countries and cultures celebrate the New Year. We made a scene of the Eiffel Tower and used straws to blow fireworks in the sky above it. We will also will make a Chinese New Year dragon.
In Religion, we are discovering the Holy Spirit - part of the Trinity. He is God's gift to us to help give us wisdom, inspiration, and motivation through life. We think of the symbol of a dove.
This month we will be working on long vowel sounds and words that have a "magic e". This is the CVCe combination: consonant, long vowel, consonant, silent e. We also are working on digraphs: ch, sh, th, wh, ph, qu, as well as ending digraphs: ng, dge, and tch.
Please return the reading book your child brought home over the break. Hopefully, some stories were shared with your family.
At the end of this month will be Catholic Schools Week. More information will be provided later in the month about the activities planned during this week.

Our Classroom in December
We finished up the first trimester with a well-earned party for good behavior. We ate giant freezies on the coldest day of the year yet! We had fun having free time and a video. Many children took advantage of the Santa's Workshop, too.
Advent starts this week. We are keeping track of good deeds in our classroom/school, as well as good deeds done at home. We will all be awesome Advent Angels.
Show and Tell will take place the first week of December. Please refer to the notice that was brought home.
A friendly reminder: please have your child bring snowpants and boots now that the snow is flying. Also, it's not a bad idea to have them bring in 2 pairs of mittens/gloves - one for a.m. recess, and other for p.m. recess. Please try to label all of this outerwear.
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the Christmas Choir Concert, Thursday, Dec. 13th.
We will be having a classroom Christmas party the last day of school before break, Friday, Dec. 21st.
