Senior Lunch is Friday, December 2!
First and third graders and select band/recorder members will be performing at the Senior Lunch on Friday, December 2 at approximately 12:30. All students involved will be able to wear non-uniform that day! They will be singing and playing songs of the season, and ending the day joining the seniors in singing Christmas carols. Parents may attend, but it is standing room only, due to the tables set up for the luncheon.
Cub Scout message
Greetings Parents,
My name is Cory Boese; I'm Joseph Boese's father. I wanted to send out a quick note to all of the parents of prospective Cub Scouts that may want to join up yet this year. So far Joey is the only first grader who has signed up from Sacred Heart School. He has indicated to me that he would like some of his friends to become his den-mates so together they can work through the various fun activities and acheivements.I do understand that most parents have a lot already on their plates, so I will outline the time commitment associated with joining up. There are typically two 1-hour Den meetings per month (just the 1st graders) and then one 1-hour Pack (all grades) meeting per month at the school cafeteria. The Den meeting most likely will be held at the homes of the parents, and are more taylored to the Tiger Cub's activities and acheivements. The main goal of scouting is to teach the boys how to be active and care for others in the community, to do your best in all endeavors, and to develop a moral compass that upholds the high standards expected by the Boy Scouts of America. Being a Cub Scout also allows them to enjoy various fun indoor and outdoor activities, such as downhill tubing, summer and winter camps, ice fishing, pinewood derby and many more adventures too numerous to list here.
We are planning an informational session and potentially our first Den meeting at the Sacred Heart Convent from 6-7pm on November 30th. Please contact me at my email 'boes0031@gmail.com' or call me at 612-203-3203 if you are interested. I would love to hear from you!
Sincerely, Cory Boese

We will be adding challenge words in Unit 2. A note should have come home about the first grade spelling program explaining how it works. If you didn't receive it, please let me know.
Your child should have a list of high frequency words for the first trimester from the Open House. You can use that list at home to practice these words. Students should be able to just say these words without sounding them out. High frequency words help them speed up their reading and give them more confidence in their abilities. Other words that they come across that are harder, certainly encourage them to sound them out as best they can. Thank you for practicing these at home!
SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS
Just a few reminders: please practice tying shoes, buttoning skirts, and tucking in shirts. We have Mass on every Wednesday. Please make sure your child wears their Mass uniform on those days. Water bottles are okay in our classroom. They can't be filled with juice, however. Please make sure that your child is buying a milk with their cold lunch if that is what you want them to do. I'm afraid some of them are substituting their water bottle for buying milk. Again, please have them memorize their lunch number. If you have any changes in how your child will be picked up from school, please send me a note or e-mail me during the day.
We having a great year so far. All of the children seem to be enjoying their days. I'm so pleased that 1A is following classroom and school rules so well! We have already been filling our marble jar for good listening and being respectful. We have cooperated with each other and listed our classroom rules and consequences.
Welcome to our new student, Emilia! She is a good friend to us and we are enjoying getting to know her better.
Thanks very much, families, for donating extra items for our classroom. I appreciate that so much and it is wonderful to feel the support from you in so many ways.
Please feel free to communicate any concerns or needs during these first few weeks to help make the start of the school year be the best it can be for your child. Thanks!
