Mrs. Milliren - Kindergarten

Service Project!

Kindergarten and 4th grade are working on a service project for Catholic Schools Week.

Project Linus: Providing Security Through Blankets

We are making fleece blankets to donate to this organization. We are going to knot tie and donate as many blankets as we can for the youth of the Minneapolis area. If you want more information about this: www.projectlinus.org has a lot of good information about this group.

We are looking for donations of 1 1/2 yards of fleece for each blanket. If you are able to help out by donating fleece please try to have it to school before January 25th so I can prep the fabric at home! Thank you in advance :)

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week!

Here is some of the things I have been asked about and thought everyone could use the answers:

Friday, Lunch with a Loved One! Kindergarteners wear regular school uniform. Yes, this includes spirit wear! Please, meet us in the gym! We are going to eat first and then if you would like you can take your Kinder to the book fair. Please bring your kindergartener to the classroom by 11:45am. I will be in our classroom after lunch.

  1. Yes, it is non-uniform Monday thru Friday with a theme.
  2. We go to all of our regular classes so please remember gym shoes on Monday and Wednesday.
  3. We will go outside everyday so be sure to send warm clothing.
  4. On Monday is our Act of Service for the school. Kindergarten is going to organize the Lost and Found at school.
  5. On Tuesday is the Talent Show. Kinde is on at 12:30pm.
  6. Wednesday is our Random Acts of Kindness. We are going to be spreading cheer to the students and staff by washing desks, singing and greeting people!
  7. Wednesday send a stuffed animal and book with you child to school! We are going to drop everything and read. Stuffed animals and books will be going home at the end of the day!

All week-long

  1. Mr. Heintz’s class and Mrs. Milliren’s class are doing project Linus together. We have enough fleeces to make 7 blankets! Thank you!
  2. Kindergarteners are writing letters to Soldiers and sending a small care package. (I have been using coupons, asking for a few freebees from friends and plan to use $10 of the Kinde fee monies. So far I have been able to pick up 2 deodorants, 3 packs of gum, cough drops, protein bars and candy…at this point I have only spent 25 cents)

If you have any more questions please ask! This is a very busy and exciting week…I don’t want anyone to miss out.

Ms. S has Super Socks!

Welcome back to school! We are back to work and learning about the letter /s/. Ms. S has us talking about amphibians like salamanders, frogs, toads, and newts. It has been an exciting discovery about animals that are born in the water and live on the land.

In math we continue to discover money and its value. We are counting to 100 by 1's, 5's and 10's.

Religion is a time of leaning about God's gifts of the earth and sky. The class is having discussions about day/night and the moon/stars.

Science was planned around ice and snow activities....well we seem to be missing the snow! The class is exploring what can melt ice the fastest. Some ideas they are working with is heat, foil, cotton and salt.
