Attached you will find the technology standards for K-8 computer classes. These are the standards that all students will be held up to and followed in the curriculum.

Word Processing - Microsoft Word

We're currently working on our Word Processing unit.  This is something students will use throughout the year, their educational career and beyond.  We always do this at the beginning of the year so that they have the skills they need to be successful throughout the year.  I'm so impressed with everyone and how much they remember from previous years!

Skills that will be learned:

Kindergarten: Open a document, enter text, change text, space bar, return key, quitting an application

1st/2nd: review opening a document, entering text, changing font, size and color of text, bold, italic, underline, space bar, return key, delete key, saving a document, quitting an application

3rd/5th: Review of basics. We are writing word list, using spell check and formatting.

6th/8th: We are working with multi-column documents, importing and resizing images and other formating techniques.

 


 

Keyboarding

Once again, we start off the year with keyboarding.  

1st graders will learn proper posture, finger placement, and important terms such as "home row".  We use "Type to Learn 3".

2nd and 3rd graders have a very good memory!  We all remembered that our index fingers rest on f and j, and that there is a bump on these two keys to remind us.  I'm very impressed with the progress these classes are making!  We also use "Type to Learn 3".

4th-8th grades are all doing very well, and we use "Type to Learn 3".  I also found some websites over the summer that we've been using as well.
