Ms Ekegren
Welcome to the 2010-11 School Year!!
I'm looking forward to meeting all of my homeroom students next week at registration. Don't just send your parent over. Please stop by yourself, like in person!!!
Things to do at registration:
Homeroom check-in, sign up for fall sports (girls' volleyball or soccer, boys' soccer, co-ed cross country) Two meets are already scheduled!! Look at the school or gym uniform table, buy lunches/milk & check out the other tables that you might have missed in previous years.
Check out the new Sacred Heart Athletic Committee as a new volunteer opportunity.
Sacred Heart Catholic School Mission Statement

2010-11 Ram Athletics
DUE TO CHANGES IN THE LEAGUE CALENDAR: Any students in grades 5-8 interested in participating in Fall Sports NEED to sign up on REGISTRATION NIGHT. League schedules will be available during the second week of school.
Eligibility for Sacred Heart students: Girls Volleyball is open to girls in grades 5-8. Cross Country is open to any students in grades 5-8. Boys and Girls Soccer is open to any students in grades 6-8.
The NSPSL greatly discourages students below the middle school level from participating in sports where the "B" level is not offered.
The NSPSL "does NOT allow grade 4 or below from participating in league activities."

grade 7 - Quiz taken on May 7. Emergency First Aid video. TOP TEENS Lesson 17: Are you missing the boat? Missing the boat means you are missing out on something you would benefit from if you were present. There are two cycles: 1. "your body is in the desk but your mind is absent." 2. "you are absent both physically and mentally."
Grade 8 - TRIMESTER THREE FINAL on May 28
Safety concerns with extreme/non-traditional sports. How to recognize a sudden illness emergency.
As students move on to High School, missing school/being absent creates more work than it did in grade school. The boat may leave without you. Discussion included tips for approaching the teacher for assignments and that some classes are sequential. Missing today's lesson will affect your understanding of tomorrow's lesson.
S = Be Specific (not vague) M = (Make your goal) measurable A = Action Oriented (Use I, me, my etc. ) R = Realistic (stretch but keep the outcome in your reach) T = (Create a goal that's) time limited
CREATE A GAME AND PEER TEACHING - DONE
In Physical Education class, grade 7 and 8 will be in small working together to design a game or activity that incorporates fitness & motor skills. Groups completing the written assignment will be given the opportunity to teach the game to peers. Many groups will be able to present the game to another grade level.
