SIXTH
We are beginning our chapter on exploring the universe. This week will be spent looking at Earth's place in space, and the sun. We will spend Thursday doing an explore activity on lunar eclipses... students are asked to bring in a flashlight. Next week we will look at what makes up the universe and also how we are exploring space. The chapter 3 test is planned for Tuesday, May 27.
SEVENTH
We start this week finishing a quick chapter on exploring space. At end of the week, we will begin chapter 22 on the sun-earth-moon system.
EIGHTH
We are beginning chapter 22 on the sun-earth-moon system this week. The majority of the rest of the week will be spent on play practices. We will pick up more on Friday of this week, and then not again until the Friday after the spring concert/play.
Math
SIXTH
This week we start with adding/subtracting mixed measures, mutliplying by powers of ten, unit multipliers and part 2 on writing percents as fractions. Test 22 (lessons 1-110) is planned for Thursday, May 15. On Friday we will learn compound interest.
The following week will cover our final four lessons: finding a whole when a fraction is known, estimating area, finding a whole when a percent is known, and the volume of a cylinder. Our last regular test is planned for Friday, May 23 covering lessons 1-115.
SEVENTH
We begin our week with volume, graphing in equalities, and the relationships among volume, capacity, and mass in the metric system. Our next test is planned for Thursday, May 15. Friday will be spent learning to factor algebraic expressions.
The following week will cover slope-intercept forms of equations, copying angles and triangles, division by zero, graphing non-linear equations. That will be the end of our regular lessons! The last regular math test is planned for Friday, May 23.
EIGHTH
After beginning our week with play practice and a shortened class due to our great MN Zoo presentation, we are covering dividing polynomials. We will spend Tuesday and Wednesday practicing this skill. Thursday and Friday we will learn more on systems of equations, tests for functions, and the quadratic eqations.
Friday, May 23 will be spent preparing for the test that will be on Tuesday, May 27 covering lessons 1-82.
Math Help
Mondays sixth and seventh graders are welcome, and on Tuesdays it's open to eighth graders. We meet until 4:00. The final math help sessions will be on Monday and Tuesday, May 19 and 20.
