Sacred Heart Catholic School
SCRIP Information
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When Sacred Heart School purchases SCRIP we are purchasing negotiable gift certificates that are used just like cash. Scrip is issued by national and local retailers, where many of us already shop. Merchants want to support non-profit organizations, and in return we ask you to support them by shopping with scrip at their stores. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing and other essentials and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our school.
Sacred Heart School orders through the Great Lakes Scrip center on behalf of churches, schools and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Sacred Heart Catholic School buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to SHS parents for full face value. The bulk of the discount – from two to fifteen percent or more – is retained by Sacred Heart Catholic School as revenue.
We would certainly appreciate it if you would purchase scrip through Sacred Heart Catholic School. An order form with a list of the most common vendors you would use is attached. You simply fill out your order, attach a check, return it back to SHS and when the order arrives, (usually within 6 days) you pick it up here at the school, or we will send it home with your child, if we have a waiver on file (the waiver form is also attached). If a vendor that you would like to order from is not listed on the order sheet, go www.glscrip.com to see if they are listed. Add your selection to the order form and it will be ordered for you.
If you have any questions, or would like to know more about SCRIP, please call Pat Moore, she is in the school office Monday – Friday, 763-537-1329. Thanks so much for supporting this program!
